KCB Rugby put up a classy show against Menengai Oilers picking a to win the 2024 Kabeberi 7s completing a three-peat in the tournament.
Both teams were eyeing their first Cup win this season with KCB having lost to Kenya Harlequin in Kakamega Ingo 7s while the Oilers had lost Kabras RFC in Dala last weekend.
KCB start strong
KCB started the clash all guns firing, piling pressure on the yellow defence before Floyd Wabwire capitalised on an overlap on the outside to trot in for the Bankers’ first.
Enmanuel Opondo would produce a step to cut against the grain for the Lions’ second try for a 12-0 lead. Jacob Ojee then received a wide pass in space before bumping off Denis Abukuse to score the Bankers’ third of the day.
KCB were proving to be unstoppable at this point, Opondo once again pulling the strings in the midfield before releasing Festus Shiasi to race clear for the fourth try, scores now 22-0 heading into the breather.
KCB would hit immediately after the break, Opondo once again stepping past his markers to link up with Asati who scored under the uprights.
Abukuse would pull one back for the Oilers at the death, rounding the first batch of markers before stepping the sweeper to score between the uprights. KCB went on to win the third consecutive title in Kabeberi,
Kenya Harlequin finish third
Kenya Harlequin settled for the third after a 33-14 to keep the title hopes more than alive. Monks were first on the scoreboard, Samuel Omollo finding his way past Herman Humwa who had rushed from the defence line to open the scoring.
Amon Wamaalwa would blow away a chance to pull Quins level, the referee calling for a held-up after he decided not to use a free man out wide.

It would be Lucky Dewald who struck twice in quick succession to give Quins the lead before Wambani Hassan struck home from way out to level matters.
Wiseman Aganya would pick a loose ball before shrugging off two defenders to dot down in the corner. Herman Humwa scored another for Quins near the uprights after Lucky Dewald stepped to break the first line of defence before teeing up the marauding Humwa to score.
Kabras finish sixth
Kabras were forced to settle for third place after a 14-12 loss to Strathmore Leos in the fifth-place playoffs.
Kabras controlled the first half well and led heading to the break. It was after Alfred Orege had a break on the left wing and scored at the corner. Orege scored the second try when he capitalized on a loose ball for a try that was converted.
In the second half, an intercept by Stansilus Shikoli saw him score under the posts for a converted try. George Ooro scored at the left corner and the try was converted.
The clash was poised for sudden death but consultation between referees concluded that the students had converted all their tries while Kabras RFC had converted one.
