Nakuru, Kenya Harlequin, Nondies, MMUST, and Catholic Monks also secured wins in the tournament.
KCB Rugby dominate Kabeberi 7s opener
KCB Rugby started strong, winning 39-0. Kenya 7s scrum-half Samuel Asati scored the opening try, which was converted for a 7-0 lead. The restart was easily claimed by Kenya 7s skipper Vincent Onyala, who touched down for a try.
New signing Floyd Wabwire showcased his speed to score the third try, extending the lead to 17-0. Austin Sikutwa added the final try of the first half on the left side, making it 22-0.
In the second half, Sikutwa scored twice more, while Brian Wahinya added another try, sealing a big win for KCB.
In the other Pool D match, MMUST Rugby found themselves trailing 7-5 at halftime. In the second half, Veron Kaburu took charge, breaking through three defenders on the open side to score the winning try.
Despite being down to 6 players due to a yellow card, MMUST held on for a hard-fought 10-7 victory.
Oilers’ Impressive Win in Pool B
Kenya 7s international Denis Abukuse and Simbas winger Beldad Ogeta each scored twice as Menengai Oilers delivered a dominant performance.
Abukuse opened the scoring with a break on the left side, while Ogeta added the second try, cutting in from the right. Ogeta then scored again after a break through the centre, and John Okoth added his try, giving the Oilers a 24-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Abukuse scored immediately after the restart, extending the lead to 31-0. A penalty in the Stallions’ zone allowed Amos Obae to power through for another try. Oilers added another try leading to a comprehensive 43-0 victory for the Oilers.
Oilers were joined on three points by Catholic Monks, who earned a 10-0 win.
Kabras RFC Upset in Pool A
League leaders Kabras RFC suffered an upset, losing 22-17 to Strathmore Leos. Elton Amalemba and Nygel Amaitsa both scored tries for Leos, giving them a 10-0 lead. Humphrey Asiligwa pulled one back for Kabras, but Amaitsa’s second try in the second half and a score from Collins Maina extended Leos’ lead to 22-5.
Kabras attempted a comeback with William Mwanji scoring under the posts, and Patrick Lumumba adding another try. However, Kabras failed to convert the final try, allowing Strathmore Leos to claim the win.
Nakuru RFC on their part had to dig deep to overcome Impala 21-14. Timothy Makiya opened the scoring for Impala, but Nakuru responded before the break, levelling the scores at 7-7.
