Kenya 7s and Menengai Oilers player Harold Anduvate is the latest Kenyan to join New York Old Blue RFC.

Anduvate, who was one of the longest-serving players at Menengai Oilers, began with the team when they were in the Nationwide League and played a crucial role in their rise to the Kenya Cup.

We caught up with him, and he expressed confidence about his performance at his new club, having previously featured in the Nationals with Old Blue RFC.

“I’m currently playing for Old Blue RFC based in New York. The experience has been great so far, especially having the opportunity to play in the nationals,” Anduvate said.

“There isn’t much to say about the difference, as rugby here is also growing. Maybe just focusing more on the soft skills and team marketing, both by players and the club, to attract more corporate investment in the sport,” he added.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

Anduvate showcased brilliant performances with his former club Menengai Oilers, including being part of the team that won the Great Rift 10s.

An alumnus of Menengai High School, Anduvate was also part of the Kenya 7s Shujaa team before an injury sidelined him for almost two years. After recovering, he continued to deliver impressive performances and now joins Timothy Mmasi and former Kenyan international Monate Akuei in New York.
