Kabeberi 7s is set to highlight this weekend’s action as the 2024 National 7s Series enters its fourth round after a successful initial three rounds.
This tournament, which began in 1988 is hosted by Mwamba RFC and is played in honour of founding member George Mwangi Kabeberi who passed away in 1986. Scrummage Africa takes a look at the Kabeberi 7s roll of honour.
Kabeberi 7s successful teams
Hosts Mwamba RFC and Impala Saracens are the most successful sides in the competition. They have claimed seven titles each with Mwamba winning the inaugural tournament in 1988 while Impala’s first title came in 1998.

In 1995 Kenya Harlequin won their first title and have so far bagged six titles with their latest being in 2012.

KCB Rugby have four titles the first one being in 2008 and are the defending champions managing to win back to back in 2022 and 2023 after the return of competition after the COVID-19 pandemic struck.

Nakuru, Homeboyz and defunct Barclays have two titles each whereas Kenya 7s, Ulinzi, Starnchart and Strathmore Leos have managed to win one title in 2000, 2003, 1994 and 2009 respectively.
