Ayera expresses gratitude after clinching Mbale 7s MVP honour

Pirates forward Desire Ayera was crowned the Mbale 7s MVP after leading his team to secure a 07-05 comeback win over Heathens in the final.

Desire has acknowledged the Impact on the growth of Rugby in Uganda and also a hard lesson learnt by the Pirates after they managed to secure a win over Heathens.

“It is really happy to see how rugby has grown just reading through the toughness of the whole tournament,” he told Fat Cats podcast.

The Pirates forward Ayera made an impact in the second leg of the Nile 7s and clinched the MVP after leading the team to a narrow 07-05 win over Heathens in a rather contestable match at the Busamaga Grounds.

Ayera has expressed his joy having been part of the success of the team coming from eighth position in the previous fixture at Entebbe and clinching the first position title.

“We are back to our winning ways and am happy to celebrate this development coming from eighth to first all we can say is Thanks be to God,” he expressed.

“Last Season I was knocked out in the first match and it feels happy to be playing again this season and now am in the second leg, Glory be to Jesus,” he emphasized.

Ayera was crowned alongside Avengers RFC’s Juliet Nandawula who snatched the women’s MVP title in Mbale.
