Kenya Harlequin assistant coach Simon Odongo is the latest to receive his level 2 coaching accreditation from World Rugby.
Odongo’s milestone was confirmed by the Kenya Rugby Union on Wednesday and he joins the growing list of coaches accredited Kenyan coaches in the 15s version.

Odongo is a former Homeboyz RFC head coach and former backline utility for Mwamba and Homeboyz. He was the head coach for his former side Homeboyz Rugby twice in 2018-2019 replacing Paul Murunga and in 2021 replacing the South African Jason Hector.
It was after serving as an academy coach and assistant coach under Paul Murunga at Homeboyz.

In 2016, Simon joined Kings Rugby Development Academy as head coach where he coached different age groups to earn himself some coaching badges.
In 2019, Simon coached the Homeboyz Rugby team in the Kenya Cup, where they failed to make the playoffs. He however led the reserve side to the Eric Shirley Shield Finals.
His accreditation comes days after Kisumu RFC head coach Lawrence Buyachi Esikumo received his.
Buyachi who retired from play in 2022 received his accreditation on the 27 of July 2024 to add his name in the long growing list of Coaches.
Buyachi who helped Homeboyz earn promotion back to Kenya Cup left before the 2023/24 and he is now a forward coach at Menengai Oilers rugby club.
