Kenya 7s have finished ninth in the 2024 Paris Olympics games after a 10-5 win over Samoa in the playoff match played in France.

Shujaa headed to this match having lost the final group stage match to Samoa which saw them relegated to the placing matches missing out on the quarters.

Kenya 7s beat Uruguay

They qualified for this match after beating Uruguay in sudden death while Samoa eliminated Japan following a 42-7 win in the ninth-place semis.

Kenya 7s landed the opening try of the match when a long pass was delivered to  John Okoth who danced through the defence to score the opener.

Shujaa took a slim lead to the break and returned to score the second try through Okoth for a 10-0 lead for Kenya. Motu Opetai pulled back in the 11th minute. Despite calls for a penalty try, the try was reviewed and the penalty try decision was ruled out.

They held on to the slim lead for a win. Kenya 7s now shift focus on preparation for the 2025 World SVNs Series having managed just two wins in the campaign.
