Peace Lekuru is set to maintain her role as captain of the Lady Cranes as the Uganda Rugby Union names its 12-women squad ahead of the World Rugby Sevens Repechage match in Monaco, scheduled to commence on June 21, 2024.
Lekuru will play as hooker, alongside Nabbaggala Grace and Agnes Nakuya in the forward positions. Lydia Namabiro will partner with Ayot Mary as half-backs, while Lorna Sandra and Maimuna Nassozi will take the right-wing positions as centre and winger, respectively.
The three-day Repechage event will take place at Stade Louis II in Monaco from June 21-23, 2024, returning to the venue that hosted final qualification events prior to the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The tournament will feature 12 women’s and 12 men’s teams, all vying for the ultimate prize of representing their country on the biggest global sporting stage. The women’s tournament looks wide open and will feature teams from Argentina, China, Czechia, Hong Kong China, Kenya, Jamaica, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Poland, Samoa, and Uganda, with Czechia making their Repechage debut.
Rugby sevens is set to provide an unforgettable curtain raiser at Stade de France as the first sport to kick off the Olympic Games in Paris on July 24, 2024, two days ahead of the Opening Ceremony.
