Kenya Legends secured a significant victory in the first leg of the Legend Cup held in Uganda, triumphing 26-15 and gaining an advantageous position heading into the return leg scheduled for Nairobi later this year.
This win builds on Kenya’s success in the 2023 Legend Cup, where they emerged victorious on aggregate across both legs.
Kenya Legends leads
The match started with an exchange of penalties, with both teams scoring three-pointers to level the score at 3-3. Kenya then took the lead with a successful kick from Lavin Asego.
They further solidified their advantage with a try from captain Eddie Omondi, followed by Asego’s conversion, putting them ahead 10-3.

In the second half, Asego extended Kenya’s lead with another penalty, making it 13-3 despite Uganda’s persistent but fruitless attacks. Uganda managed to narrow the gap with an unconverted try before Vincent Mose extended Kenya’s lead with an impressive individual effort. Collins Injera then widened the gap further with another try, seemingly securing the game for Kenya.
However, Uganda fought back with a try of their own, reaching a total of 15 points in the match. Despite Uganda’s late efforts, Kenya maintained their advantage, setting the stage for an exciting rematch in Nairobi later in the year.
