Kisii School, the reigning Nyanza region 15s champions, are eagerly anticipating a successful 7s season.

With the completion of the longer version of the game last term, the focus now shifts to the shorter 7s version, set to take place this second term.

Kisii School chase

This year’s nationals will be held in the Nyanza region, with Kisii County as the host. Kisii School, aiming to have a team on the national stage, are gearing up for the challenge.

After a commendable performance in the 15s, culminating in a regional championship win, Kisii School, under the guidance of coach Lee Arstone, is hoping to impress in this year’s 7s championships.

Last year, Kisii School was eliminated in the semi-finals by Maseno School, narrowly missing out on a spot in the nationals. This year, the Nyanza region will produce four or three teams for the nationals, depending on whether the North Eastern region fields a team.

Speaking to The Scrummage Africa after being eliminated in the quarter-finals at the Black Rock competition by Butula School over the weekend, Coach Lee Arstone expressed confidence in their preparations.

“We participated in this tournament to identify our weaknesses and strengths, and we will build on them,” said Arstone.

“With us hosting this year’s nationals, we are ready for the tough competition from our opponents. We learned from our shortcomings during last year’s games and have worked on them,” Arstone added.

“We have implemented comprehensive training programs and plan to have as many build-up games as possible as we head into the season. We hope this will prepare us adequately for the upcoming challenges,” concluded Arstone.
