The Rugby Super Series final round of round robin phase came to a close when the four outfits convened at the Bull Ring, Kakamega.

The first game saw the Rhinos getting their first win of the campaign. The Rhinos had to leave it late to overcome a weakened Cheetahs side, who came into this game, having already booked a place in the final.

Paul Mutsami, who came in as a substitute, lifted the Rhinos past Cheetahs when he scored a last minute try which was converted by Ervin Asena to win the game 27-23.

His exploits earned him a Man of the Match title and a MoTM shield.

In the second match, the Lions outsmarted Buffaloes 20-5 in a game that ended prematurely due to continuous rain which pounded Kakamega town on Saturday afternoon.

With these results, the Lions regained their lead with 9 points. Cheetahs come in second also with 9 points but with an inferior goal difference. Rhinos sit third on the log with 5 points as Buffaloes sit at position four with 4 points.

This year’s Rugby Super Series follows a round-robin format, with matches taking place across Nairobi, Nakuru, and Kakamega over three match days.

The top two teams from the round-robin stage will compete for the championship title in a high-stakes final match.

Additionally, the 2024 series introduces a women’s competition, marking a significant step for women’s rugby in the region. The women’s division features two teams, the Eagles and Jaguars, competing over two match days.
