Impala RFC have displayed prowess as they book their spot in the 2024/25 Kenya Cup after securing a narrow 12-11 win over MMUST at Kakamega Showground.
Impala were first to change the scoressheet after Quinto Ongo’s penalty kick was successful to change the scores 03-00 in the first minutes of the game.
In the progression of the game, Washington Ombima went for the tee in an attempt to level the scores but the kick went wide before he drilled in the opening kick as he went for a drop goal to level the scores 03-03.
In the 26th minute, the guests were penalized and Washington Ombima boosted the hosts scores 06-03 after a well taken penalty.
The guests, determined to remain in the game, made good use of their kicker Quinto Ongo as he leveled the scores 06-06 after a successful penalty conversion before the halftime whistle.
In the early minutes of the second half, the hosts were penalized and this gave the guests a 09-06 lead streak after Quinto went for the tee.

The players deem tired of the points game, MMUST’s outside center Kelvin Bukhala managed to cut through Impala’s defense as he crossed the white wash for the first try of the game as scores changed to 11-09 after a wide conversion.
In the tensed progression of the game, possession was shared equally but both teams stabilized their defense before the hosts were penalized and Quinto Ongo went for the tee to change the scores 12-11 as Impala took the lead.
MMUST had two later kicks before the final whistle but Ombima saw his first kick bounce of the posts while the second went wide with Impala surviving to return to the top tier after two seasons.
