Springboks’s Elton Jantijies has been handed a four-year ban away from rugby after testing positive for a prohibited substance, reports from South Africa have revealed.
The 2019 Rugby World Cup winner with South Africa’s Springboks was first found positive in 2023 which saw him not making it to the Springboks squad that went on to win back-to-back World Cup finals.
At first, Elton swore to prove his innocence but this did not come to pass as he was to test positive for Clenbuterol a substance used by bodybuilders to lose weight and produce muscle as confirmed by the South Africa Institute for Drug free Sports (SAIDS). SAIDS added that there will be no window for Elton to appeal further.
This ban may be a career-ending sanction for the thirty-three-year-old. Elton has been full of controversies in previous years. He has been previously arrested for damage to property and suspected for having an affair with Springboks team dietician Zeenat Simjee in November 2022
