St Patrick’s Iten lead
The match got off to a cagey start with both teams testing each other’s defenses. However, it was St Patrick’s Iten who drew first blood with a well-taken penalty by Maxwell Shigali. This gave the boys from Iten some much-needed momentum, and they were able to capitalize on this when their team captain, Oyare Bahati, scored a try which he went on to convert.
St Anthony’s Kitale, however, were not going to go down without a fight, and they fought back strongly. Their efforts were rewarded when Moses Kessis scored a try, but unfortunately for them, they were unable to convert it as Benjamin Ouma missed the conversion.
t Anthony’s Kitale got a penalty and scored through Ouma bring the gap to two points which Iten held on to win.
St Patrick’s Iten coach speaks
St Patrick’s Iten head coach Bernard Luvanda Indiazi said. “We came to win after missing it out in the last minute against Kabianga in 2019. We polished few things including the defence and that what has led to this victory. We are now targeting the National trophy because the competition here has improved and it the kind of competition at the regional and we believe it has sharpened us,” he said.
