The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has announced the postponement of the Enterprise Cup and Mwamba Cup round of 16 matches, which were scheduled for March 18, 2023.
The decision was made to allow for the Kenya Simbas trials in preparation for the upcoming Currie Cup.
In a statement released on March 16, the KRU stated that the new dates for the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals of both cups will be communicated in due course. Fans of Kenyan rugby will have to wait a little longer to see their favorite teams in action.
“Kenya Rugby Union has today 16th March 2023 resolved to postpone the Enterprise Cup and Mwamba Cup round of 16 scheduled for 18th March 2023 to 25th March 2023,” reads a letter by KRU.
“This is to allow for Kenya Simbas trials in readiness for the upcoming Currie Cup. New Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals dates for both Cups will be communicated in due course,” the statement concludes.
The Kenya Simbas, the national rugby team of Kenya, are set to participate in the upcoming Currie Cup, a prestigious international rugby competition.
The trials will be used to select the best players for the team, and the KRU has decided to prioritize this selection process by postponing the cup matches.
KRU have unveiled Jerome Paarwater as the head coach to lead the session as well the Simbas in the new campaign.
