South Coast Pirates coach proud of his charges performance in Nondies loss

Despite going down 22-17 in the hands of Former Kenya Cup side Nondies last weekend in a KRU Championship clash, South Coast Pirates Head Coach Kevin Amiani has lauded his charges for positive display.

Pirates who played host to log leaders at Seacrest Grounds were the first on the scoresheet with a first minute try courtesy of Captain Charles Okwemba, new boy Ibrahim Nyongesa and Collins Kabayo added a try each, with Gitonga Elias adding the extras for a 17-15 lead, Pirates would hold on to the lead at the end of normal time but the visitors Nondies were awarded a penalty try right at the death to deny the Kevin Amiani charges the maximum points.

Speaking to the Scrummage Africa,the youthful tactician acknowledge the effort from his boys and termed it as eye opening.

“We as Pirates are proud of the results we registered against Nondies. My team is positive and we are focusing on next match against Impala at home, we must get ourselves into playoffs,” he said.

He also went on to rue the set pieces chances which they failed to capitalize.

“We struggled with our set pieces especially scrums, it’s something we are going to work on before taking the next challenge which will be against a worthy opponent (Impala)”he added.

The result saw Daystar Falcons dislodge Pirates in the second spot, the Diani based outfit drops to fourth position with 30 points on their name. They will welcome Impala Saracen sin round 10 of Championship.

Pirates will also be handed a huge boost ahead of the match with their speedy winger Steven Bosire having fully recovered and will be available for selection.
