Menengai Oilers staged a comeback twice to see off Nakuru RFC 25-18 in a Nakuru Derby played at Nakuru ASK Showground on Saturday.
The win sees Oilers stay second on the log while Nakuru remain with one win this season after five rounds. Heading to this derby Nakuru named a strong squad lead by former Kenya 7s star Oscar Ouma and had a bright start in the match.
Nakuru score early penalty
Youngster Samuel Mwaura scored the opening penalty before fly-half Fredrick Odongo crossed over for his first try of the match for an 8-0 lead. The hosts pulled back through Kenya Simbas winger Beldad Ogeta for an 8-5 scoreline.
They doubled the lead through Geoffrey Ominde for a 10-8 lead but a try by Emmanuel Mboya at the other end ensured that Nakuru took a three-point advantage to the break.

In the second half, Dan Githanga grabbed the third try for Nakuru RFC to lead 18-10. The Oilers trimmed the gap with a three pointer before tying the scores at 18-18 with five pointer.
Oilers winning try came from Ogeta and it was converted for a 25-18, earning Oilers five points that puts them a point behind leaders KCB who have 25 points.
Nakuru walk away with a point from the clash.
