Kabras RFC are through to the semifinal of the Victoria 15s after brushing aside Mbale for a 46-0 win in a quarterfinal match played at MMUST Grounds.
Kabras opened the scoring ten minutes into the game off a maul through returnee Geoffrey Shitambasi. Ntabeni Dukisa failed to add the extras to put Kabras leading 5-0.
Five minutes later and the sugarmen were at it again, this time Paul Abuto stretching their lead after being assisted by debutant David Williams who spotted a gap in Mbale’s defence. Dukisa made ammends to his earlier mistake and added the extras for a 12-0 lead.
Mbale’s resilient defending kept Kabras forwards at bay, but they would later crack, when Kabras scored two tries through Hillary Odhiambo and Asuman Mugerwa. Dukisa sliced the posts in both tries to put Kabras 26-0 going to half time.
The start of the second half saw Kabras head coach Jerome Muller do some shuffle to the team. The changes proved effective as they stretched their lead with two quick tries through Paul Abuto who grabbed his second try of the game and Victor Were. Dukisa and Williams missed the conversions respectively to take the scores to 36-0.
Abuto would later seal his hatrick minutes later, after Williams cracked Mbale’s defence to offload to him. Dan Angwech taking over kicking duties from Dukisa missed the conversion for a 41-0.
Dan Angwech turned kicker to scorer, when he caught Mbale’s defence napping with a swift pick and carry off a ruck in Mbale’s 22. Williams missed the extras as the referee blew his whistle to end the game 46-0, Kabras win.
