The Zimbabwe Cheetahs men’s and women’s squads are set to feature in the 2025 Safari 7s, the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has confirmed.

According to KRU, Zimbabwe will field teams in both categories, marking another appearance after featuring in the 2024 edition where the men’s side finished fourth.

“Another representation from the Southern part of Africa. Our brothers and sisters from Zimbabwe will be competing in both the ladies’ and men’s categories of the #2025Safari7s. Can’t wait to see you in Nairobi,” KRU announced.

Their confirmation means Zimbabwe will join Zambia, Uganda, Shujaa, Morans, French Renegades, Shogun Rugby, KCB Rugby, and Reunion Rugby in the men’s category.

The women’s category will feature Zimbabwe, Kenya Lionesses 1 and 2, Uganda, Shogun Rugby, Tunisia, and defending champions Costa Blanca Barbarians.

The 2025 Safari 7s will return to Nyayo National Stadium for the first time since 2021, when Shujaa defeated Germany in the final to claim the trophy.

Previous editions were staged at the RFUEA Grounds in 2023 and Machakos Stadium in 2024. This will be the fourth time the 35,000-seater Nyayo Stadium hosts the tournament, having previously staged it in 2011, 2012, and 2021 after growing attendance outgrew the RFUEA Grounds.

Kenya’s Shujaa and Costa Blanca Ladies are the reigning champions, having won the men’s and women’s titles respectively at the 2024 tournament in Machakos.
