South Africa A are the 2025 Africa Men’s 7s Champions after a 28-12 win over Madagascar in an entertaining final played in Mauritius.

The Blitzboks A got off to a flying start, scoring a converted try early on to take a 7-0 lead. They doubled their advantage through Mfundo Ndhlovu, who capitalized on sustained pressure to cross over. Ricardo Duarttee added the extras to make it 14-0.

Madagascar response

Madagascar responded in style, stringing together a series of offloads to produce a brilliant team try and reduce the deficit to 14-7.

South Africa A restored their 14-point cushion just before halftime when a sharp offload on the right wing released Duarttee, who sprinted clear to score his second try of the match. He converted it for a 21-7 halftime lead.

In the second half, Masande Mtshali looked to have added another try for South Africa, but it was ruled out for a forward pass in the build-up. Madagascar hit back shortly after through Ranaivoarison Mamy Herilala, narrowing the gap to 21-12 after a missed conversion.

South Africa sealed the win when Grant de Jager latched onto an offload and powered over the line, with Duarttee adding the extras to complete a 28-12 victory.
