Three second-half tries were enough for Nondies to overcome Blak Blad 25-3 in the year’s opening game at the Blad Bin.
Nondies were quicker off the whistle, early pressure by the Red Lions who were playing in white allowing Toby Fidens to split the uprights for a 3-0 lead. Fidens was on mark minutes later after continued pressure from the white army gifted them a penalty just outside the 22 meter mark to make it 6-0 in favour of the visitors.
Blad would cut the deficit through a Daniel Oyoo penalty minutes later before missing a chance to pull level as the attempt from nearly forty meters out fell short to leave matters at 6-3 as the first stanza wore on.
Nondies continued knocking on the Blad defence but fell short on two occasions, the referee calling for a knock-on once barely a meter out and the other five meters out.
Momentum would shift to the home team in the dying moments of the first half, camping in the Nondies five for extended periods to no avail, their best attempt called for a held-up for Nondies to kick out to mark the end of the first half, the visitors leading 6-3.

Nondies began the second half on a high, Fred Shisia running open space in front of him to score near the uprights. This came off massive momentum from their half that allowed Tony to make a 10-meter break into the Blad territory for a 13-3 lead.
It would turn into an all-Nondies show, a resolute white defence denying the students any go forward before dealing the final blow through substitute Ryan Odua who dummied before racing his way to score near the uprights for a 20-3 lead.
Brian Amaitsa would then score from the back of the scrum to take the game away from Blak Blad’s reach, the conversion hitting the uprights to leave the scores at 25-3 with a few minutes left on the clock.
That would be the last score of the day as the referee called an end to the highly contested clash, the visitors carrying the day 25-3.
