Holders Uganda down Lionesses to maintain fine run at Safari 7s day two

Defending champions Uganda lady cranes put up a strong second half to defeat Kenya Lionesses 22-19 maintaining 100% record as the second day of the Safari 7s came to an end at the Kenyatta stadium, Machakos.

In an exciting encounter, Freshia Oduor drew first blood for Lionesses with with a superb try but her celebrations were cut short as Peace Lekuru scored for Uganda later but failed to add the extras making it 07-05 in favour of Lionesses.

Diana Kemunto burst through the defence for the second try but the conversion was unsuccessful

Just before the break Sharon Auma scored for Kenya Lionesses to hand them a 19-05 lead at halftime.

Uganda dominated the second half where Grace Auma came in with a brace which Tina Okello successfully converted the first one, Peace Lekuru would then add another try just before the full-time whistle inflicting Kenya Lionesses a 22-19 loss, their first defeat of the tournament.

Kenya Cubs winless streak extended to three matches with a 7-5 defeat from Uganda 2.

Uganda’s Habiba scored their try and added the extras with Chelagat Naomi scoring for Kenya Cubs but failed on the conversion making it 07-05 at full-time.

Coasta Blanca Barbarians finished the day on a high thrashing Shogun 27-00.
