Kenya 7s had to rely on a golden-time try to see off a stubborn Germany 15–10 in an intense HSBC SVNS 2 clash at Nyayo National Stadium, stretching their remarkable home winning run.
Both sides came into the contest unbeaten. The USA had beaten Belgium and Uruguay, while Shujaa had brushed aside Canada and Belgium. Germany, who last defeated Kenya on home soil in 2021, were determined to end the streak that has since seen Shujaa win 25 straight matches in Kenya.
It was Germany who struck first. Daniel Eneke offloaded to Ben Ellermann for the opening try before Felix Hufnagel doubled the lead to make it 10–0, a margin they held until the halftime break.
Kenya returned with renewed intensity. Nygel Amaitsa broke down the left to score Shujaa’s first try, before Kenya retained the restart and Patrick Odongo crossed to level the scores at 10–10.
Germany nearly snatched it at the death, but Odongo and his teammates produced a crucial try-saving tackle to force extra time.
In golden time, Kevin Wekesa won a turnover, and from the resulting scrum Festus Shiashi burst through the defence to dive over and seal a dramatic victory.
USA rout Canada
The USA finished their day in style, thrashing Canada 41–7.
Lucas Lacamp opened the scoring before David Still added the second for a 12–0 lead. Lacamp returned to the scoresheet in the sixth minute to stretch the advantage to 17–0 before Canada replied through Demetri Patterson.

In the second half, Lacamp completed his hat-trick, while Adam Channel and Pita Vi added further tries to seal the emphatic win.
Uruguay ended their slow start with a commanding 38–14 victory over Belgium.
Diego Ardao, Joaquin Fresnedo, Ignacio Alvarez Akiki, Juan Manuel Tafernaberry, Dante Soto, and Francisco Landauer all crossed the whitewash.
South Africa edge Lionesses
South Africa once again proved too strong for Kenya Lionesses, edging them 12–10 in the final women’s match of the day, a repeat of the Rugby Africa Women’s final, which South Africa had won 22–0.
The Springbok Women struck early through Shiniqwa Lamprecht inside the first two minutes. Lionesses skipper Sheila Chajira responded with a brilliant run, but Maria Tshiremba restored South Africa’s lead before halftime.
Kenya pushed for a late winner through Morine Muritu, but South Africa managed the closing stages to seal victory.
Earlier, Argentina made it three wins from three after beating Brazil 28–17, while Spain claimed their maiden victory with a 21–0 win over China.
