Kabras Sugar RFC have strengthened their squad following the conclusion of the mid-season transfer window, securing the services of highly rated youngster Matrix Matangi as part of a raft of new signings ahead of the remainder of the season.
Matangi, the 2025 FEASSSA Most Valuable Player, arrives at the Sugarmen with a growing reputation as one of the brightest prospects to come through the school rugby system.
Renowned for his massive boot and attacking flair, the versatile back enjoyed an outstanding high school career that saw him guide his school to a Nyanza Region three-peat, a second-place finish at the national championships, and the school’s first-ever East African title.
The former Kisii RFC player is capable of operating at fly-half, centre, and fullback, offering Kabras valuable versatility across the backline as they push for honours in domestic competitions.

Kabras have also reinforced their squad with the signing of Nick Tom Opiyo from Walukuba Barbarians (Uganda), adding international flavour to the team.
The Sugarmen further snapped up Erick Mbakaya, an East African 7s winner with Koyonzo, while former Butula halfback Daniel Wafula joins the club to link up with his brother Victor Wawire.
In addition, Kabras have brought in Levis Ochieng from Kisumu RFC and Calistus Simiyu Wanjala from Impala RFC, alongside a number of local recruits as the club continues to build depth and competition across the squad.
