The Mwamba Cup quarterfinals have taken shape following an eventful Round of 16 that delivered tight contests, narrow margins and several walkovers as teams booked their places in the last eight.
Mombasa RFC are set to face Kisii RFC, Administration Police Warriors will tajke on Sigalagala RFC in the second quarterfinal. Kenya Prisons will line up against USIU Martials while JKUAT Cougars will be meeting Western Bulls in the last eight.
Administration Police Warriors booked their place after edging Mean Machine 13-12 in a tightly contested clash in which the students struck first through scrum-half Duncan Shamala in the sixth minute.
AP Warriors responded in the 25th minute when Godwin Olouch crossed, with Ephraim Papai adding the conversion to give them a brief lead before Mean Machine regained the advantage four minutes later as Nick Okongo touched down and Gabriel Okello converted for a 12-7 scoreline.

Papai kept AP Warriors in touch just before the break with a penalty to make it 12-10 at halftime. The second half was a tense, defence-dominated affair, with the decisive moment coming when Papai calmly slotted over another penalty to hand AP Warriors the lead, which they held onto until the final whistle.
Elsewhere, Sigalagala National Polytechnic edged NYS Spades 15-13 to also advance to the quarterfinals, while the rest of the Round of 16 was largely decided by walkovers, with Kenya Prisons advancing 28-0 against Homeboyz RFC and USIU Martials, Western Bulls, JKUAT Cougars, Kisii RFC and Mombasa RFC all progressing with 28-0 walkover victories against Kabarak University, KCNP, TUM Marines, Stallions Rugby and UoE Trojans respectively.
