“Introducing our new Assistant Coach: Jackson ‘Kalonje’ Katunga. A proven builder. A winner. A developer of stars. Welcome to Mwamba, Coach Kalonje,” the club announced.
Katunga, commonly known as Kalonje, left Impala in November 2025 after just one season in charge. He joined the Red Shirts ahead of the 2024/25 season alongside head coach Louis Kisia, and the duo made an immediate impact, steering Impala to their first Floodlit final since 2018, where they finished second.

Throughout the campaign, Kalonje stepped up whenever Kisia was away on national duties with the Kenya 7s setup. Together, they ensured Impala retained their Kenya Cup status at the end of the season.
He also played a key role in guiding Impala back to the National 7s Circuit, where they showed marked improvement, finishing 10th with 41 points. Their best outing came at the Christie 7s, where they collected 13 points.
Away from the men’s team, Kalonje also took charge of the Impala Roans women’s side following the departure of coach Mary Ochieng, overseeing their development during the season.
