KCB Rugby closed the year in dominant fashion, cruising to a 72-14 victory over Strathmore Leos in the Kenya Cup match dubbed the Jerry Olola Cup at the KCB Sports Club.
Unlike last weekend, the bankers got off to a bright start. Their first visit to the try box was held up, but they regrouped quickly. Shifting the ball to the right off a maul, Felix Ojoo proved unstoppable, ending off his marker and powering over for the opening try.

Brian Wahinya added the extras for a 7-0 lead. Strathmore’s chance to respond from the tee drifted wide. KCB struck again, this time exploiting the left channel. Mike Wekesa beat his defenders to score in the corner, with Wahinya converting for a 14-0 advantage.
The hosts found joy once more on the left side. Off a scrum, Wahinya attacked the blindside and fed Wekesa, who completed his brace and celebrated passionately.
Scuffles followed the try, and both sides went down to 14 men, with KCB losing Andycole Omolo for 10 minutes.
The scoring spree continued as Vincent Onyala sliced through the defence and set up last weekend’s brace hero, Branton Lusisa, for the bonus-point try.

Moments later, Wahinya cut inside and released an inside pass to Onyala, who raced clear for KCB’s fifth try.
The heat kept rising as Elvis Namusasi dotted down the sixth try. Wekesa then split the defence and set up George Ooro for a centre-post finish against his former side, with Wahinya converting for a commanding 47-0 lead after 35 minutes.
Strathmore Leos finally got on the board before the break, capitalizing on a clearance error to score a converted try for a 47-7 halftime score.
In the second half, Lusisa grabbed his second of the afternoon as KCB pushed their tally to 57 points.
Bramwel Kilwake came off the bench to score off a maul for 62-7 before Wahinya dived over for another try to stretch the lead to 67-7.
The students pulled one back with a converted try to reach 14 points.
Off a scrum, the bankers sealed the afternoon’s scoring as Kilwake added another try for a resounding 72-14 full-time result.
