Promoted Kenya Cup side MMUST Rugby have added Marlin Mukolwe to their technical bench ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Mukolwe will serve as the backs coach, working alongside head coach John Asila as the university side marks its return to the top flight after two seasons in the Championship.
Marlin Mukolwe before MMUST
The coach joins MMUST just weeks after parting ways with Kenya Cup champions Kabras RFC, where he played a key role in the club’s recent successes.
During his stint with Kabras, Mukolwe served as the backs coach, replacing Felix Ayange, who moved abroad after the 2024 National 7s Circuit. Under coach Carlos Katywa they led Kabras to fourth consecutive Kenya Cup title.
He also co-led the club’s Eric Shirley Shield side alongside Geoffrey Messo, steering them to the semifinals before bowing out to Menengai Oilers.
Later, Mukolwe took up the role of Kabras 7s head coach, guiding the Sugarmen to a third-place finish at Driftwood 7s in the opening legs of the National 7s Circuit and in Prinsloo 7s.

Before joining Kabras, the former KCB Rugby scrum-half had a coaching stint at Blak Blad, where he was credited with helping rejuvenate the university outfit.
A product of Kakamega School, Mukolwe enjoyed an illustrious schools rugby career, featuring in the Dubai 7s (2008), winning the KSSSA 15s title (2009), FEASSSA 15s titles (2008, 2009), and the KSSSA National 7s title (2010).
Marlin Mukolwe’s accolades
He went on to represent Kenya U20, and with KCB Rugby, he won multiple Floodlit 15s titles, four Kenya Cup crowns, and the Enterprise Cup, before transitioning into coaching.
In addition to his club roles, Mukolwe has also contributed to grassroots rugby development, assisting in coaching Butere Boys Rugby.
