Menengai Oilers have retained the Impala Floodlit title after defeating Nondescripts 32-20 in the 2025 final at Impala Club.

The Oilers came into the clash determined to defend the title they won last season, while Nondies were eyeing their first Floodlit crown since 2012.

The Rangers had endured heartbreak in recent editions, having lost to KCB in the 2022 and 2023 finals.

Captain Ibrahim Ayoo set the tone for Oilers with an early try just four minutes in. Nondies had a chance to respond, but Bruce Odhiambo missed his penalty attempt, allowing Oilers to hold onto their narrow lead.

Gibson Weru’s charges doubled their advantage seven minutes later when Chrispine Shitundo crossed over for a converted try to make it 12-0. Nondies then pulled one back through Ryan Odrua, reducing the deficit to 12-7, before Oilers’ opened the lead once more with a try that made it 17-7.

Odrua struck again for Nondies, cutting the gap to five points and breathing life back into their challenge.

However, Oilers’ forward power proved decisive, as they executed a well-worked maul off a lineout with Aturo grounding his second try, converted by Omela, for a 24-point tally.

Odhiambo slotted in a penalty late in the first half to keep Nondies within reach at the break.

Nondies came out stronger in the second half, and their efforts paid off when Lamec Ambetsa finished off a brilliant move on the wing to make it 24-20, narrowing the gap to just four points.

But Oilers once again found an answer through speedster Beldad Ogeta, who sliced through the Nondies defence and sprinted 40 metres to score a solo try that restored a nine-point cushion.

Just before the 70th minute, Oilers added a penalty to extend their lead to 32 points, and they held firm in the closing stages to secure back-to-back Floodlit titles.
