2025 Uganda Cup group standings after first round

The 2025 Uganda Cup group standings have taken early shape after the opening round of matches played on Saturday, October 18, with Pirates, Buffaloes, Heathens, and Rhinos emerging as early leaders in their respective pools following dominant displays in the first round of action.

In Group A, the Pirates sit comfortably at the top with 5 points and a commanding +145 points difference after their huge win over Kigezi Silverbacks. Mongers follow closely in second with 4 points and a +13 differential after their hard-fought win against Walukuba, who sit third on 0 points with a –13 differential. Kigezi Silverbacks, still without a win, are bottom on 0 points and a –145 difference, while Rams are yet to play.

Group B is shaping up to be tightly contested, with Rhinos leading on 4 points and a +9 differential after edging out their opponents. Hippos also have 4 points, boasting a +5 difference, while Gulu City Falcons and Warriors sit level on 1 point apiece with negative differentials. Mbale Elephants are yet to feature in this round.

In Group C, Toyota Buffaloes lead with 5 points and a +56 differential after a convincing win that puts them in early control of the pool. KCB Kobs follow in second with 4 points and a +20 differential, while Kakira Simbas sit third on 0 points with a –20 differential. Amara Kyambogo are fourth with 0 points and a –56 differential, and Fort Portal Tyrants have yet to play their opening match.

Group D sees Heathens on top with 5 points and a +20 points difference after a solid win to start their campaign. Victoria Sharks follow in second with 4 points and a +20 differential, while Impis and Elgon Wolves share the bottom spots on 0 points with –20 differentials. Lira Bulls have yet to play.

In the women’s competition, Panthers top Group A with 4 points and a +4 differential after narrowly defeating Nile Rapids, who are second with 1 point and a –4 differential. Mbale Eagles are yet to feature.

In Group B, Avengers are early leaders with 5 points and a massive +81 differential after their dominant start. EWES sit second on 4 points and a +2 differential, followed by She Wolves with 1 point and –2, while Kigezi Queens trail with 0 points and a –81 differential.

The competition’s group phase will run until November 15, after which the top two teams in each pool will advance to the knockout stage. The grand final is scheduled for December 6 at a venue yet to be confirmed.
