2025 Safari 7s: Lionesses, Shogun reach womens’ semis

Kenya Lionesses and Shogun have booked their places in the semifinals of the 2025 Safari 7s Women’s category after impressive quarterfinal victories on Sunday morning at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Shogun had to fight hard against a resilient Tunisia side, with the game ending 12-12 in regular time before they struck in sudden death to seal a 17-12 win and confirm their semifinal berth.

The Lionesses, meanwhile, were dominant in their 24-5 win over Mwamba Select. Janet Okello opened the scoring with a kickoff try that she converted for a 7-0 lead.

Edith Nariaka then crossed twice first from a Sinaida Mokaya offload and later off a pass from Faith Livoi, with Maureen Muritu converting the second to make it 19-0.

Faith Oketch added another unconverted try to extend the Lionesses’ lead to 24-0 before Eunice Obadiah grabbed a late consolation for Mwamba, closing the game at 24-5.

The results set up two exciting semifinals Costa Blanca Barbarians will face Uganda, while Shogun meet the Kenya Lionesses for a place in the final.
