The pools for the 2025 Safari 7s have officially been confirmed ahead of the tournament set for 10–12 October at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.
This year’s edition will mark the event’s return to the capital after last year’s successful outing in Machakos and to the historic Nyayo Stadium for the first time since 2021 with a total of 12 men’s teams set to compete in this year’s edition.
Defending champions Kenya Shujaa headline Pool A as they begin their title defence following last year’s 12-0 victory over Shogun in the final.
Shujaa will face French Renegades, UK Select, and 2025 Uganda national sevens series champions Walukuba Rugby.
In Pool B, last year’s finalists, Shogun will battle Uganda, Nyati, and Kenya’s 2025 National Sevens Circuit champions KCB Rugby, while Pool C features Kenya Morans, Zimbabwe, Apache, and ReUnion.

Zambia are believed to have withdrawn from the competition due to financial constraints, with Nyati stepping in to complete the lineup.
Zambia’s withdrawal comes as a blow to the competition, as the team was set to make its return after last featuring in 2019.
The Zambian Rugby Union has instead opted to focus its limited resources on supporting the women’s national side, who will represent the country at the Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens Cup in Nairobi this November.
