The road to the 2026 Uganda National 7s Series continues this weekend with the Core Status Qualifiers, scheduled for Saturday, October 4, at the Ruga Ruga Sports Complex in Busukuma, Gayaza, Uganda.
This one-day event will decide which teams join Uganda’s top flight after the relegation of Gulu City Falcons, Elgon Wolves and the She Wolves at the end of the 2025 Uganda 7s Series.
Two men’s sides and one women’s team will secure core status by the close of play on Saturday.
The men’s tournament has attracted eight teams, two from each region, who earned their places by finishing as the highest ranked in their respective circuits.
From the Central Region come Impis and Victoria University Sharks, the Eastern Region will be represented by Njeru Hurricanes and Mbale Elephants.
The Northern Region has Kitgum Lions and Lira Bulls, while KIU Crocs and Buddu Bears carry the Western Region’s hopes.
