The 2025 Uganda 7s Series concluded over the weekend at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds with Buffaloes 7s, marking the end of yet another thrilling campaign that saw Walukuba Barbarians crowned champions for the very first time.
Scrummage Africa takes a look at the roll of champions over the years, stretching back to the men’s series inception in 2001 and the women’s series, which kicked off in 2021.
On the men’s side, the Heathens stand tall as the most successful club, having lifted the crown a record 10 times, including a remarkable five-year unbeaten run between 2001 and 2005.
They also added titles in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, and most recently in 2024.
The KOBs have also left a strong mark with five championships, including three in a row from 2015 to 2017, while the Pirates claimed glory in 2018 and 2023.

The Hippos shocked many with their historic win in 2022, and Buffaloes and Impis remain remembered for their 2014 and 2010 triumphs respectively.
The 2025 edition saw a new chapter written, with Walukuba Barbarians clinching their maiden series crown after a season of consistency and grit, cementing their place among the league of champions.
On the women’s side, the competition, established in 2021, has also produced its own dynasties.
The Black Pearls dominated the early years, winning three consecutive titles from 2021 to 2023. In 2024, the Avengers broke their streak, before the Thunderbirds stormed to their first-ever crown in 2025.
