Kenya Harlequin Football Club have announced a major restructuring of its playing squad as part of a long-term strategy aimed at ensuring financial stability and competitiveness ahead of the 2025-2026 rugby XVs season.
In a statement released by club chairman Victor Sudi, Harlequin confirmed that revised terms had been presented to all players, aligning with the club’s broader vision of revenue diversification, financial discipline, and prudent budget management.

“A strong majority of the playing squad understand the restructuring and have accepted the new terms presented,” read part of the statement.
“Some players have chosen not to continue under the new terms and have been formally released. We thank all outgoing players for their service to the club and wish them success in their future endeavours.”

The restructuring comes amid reports that up to 30 players, including several starters, had been released as the club seeks to build a leaner, more competitive squad.
The club reiterated its commitment to player welfare, noting that all financial obligations for the playing squad had been met by early September 2025.

“Kenya Harlequin continues to invest in holistic player welfare,” the statement added, citing medical insurance, nutrition programs, gym facilities, and mentorship initiatives as part of its player support structure.
“The future of Kenya Harlequin is bright, and together we remain committed to writing the next chapter of excellence both on and off the pitch,” Sudi concluded.
