KCB Rugby cemented their dominance at the Kabeberi 7s after completing a historic four-peat with a 20-10 victory over Daystar Falcons in the final played at RFUEA Grounds.

With the win, KCB joined Mwamba RFC, who achieved a similar feat between 1988 and 1991—as the only two teams to ever win the Kabeberi title four times in a row.

The result also places the Bankers in pole position to be crowned National 7s Circuit champions after Strathmore Leos stumbled at the semifinal stage.

The Thika Road side have now lifted the Kabeberi 7s crown six times in their history (2008, 2014, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025), underlining their dominance in the post-COVID era.

Their opponents, Daystar Falcons, came into the final unbeaten in five matches but were undone by KCB’s power and precision.

From the onset, the Bankers took control. Winning a scrum deep in Falcons territory, KCB recycled the ball before Vincent Onyala released a long pass to Elvis Olukusi, who scored the opening try.

Moments later, scrum-half Samuel Asati grounded the ball to extend the lead to 10-0 before setting up Bob Muhati, who popped the ball to Onyala for his third try.

A loose ball just before halftime was scooped up by Olukusi, who raced clear to hand KCB a commanding 20-0 lead at the break.

Daystar Falcons fought back after the restart, with Kenya 7s flyer Patrick Odongo using his pace to beat Floyd Wabwire for a 20-5 scoreline.

The students added another try late on, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation as KCB held firm to lift the trophy.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

In the third-place playoff, Kabras RFC produced their best finish at the Kabeberi 7s in recent years after seeing off Strathmore Leos 24-12.

The Sugarmen struck early through Brian Mutua, who powered over following a scrum turnover.

Kevin Wekesa then dazzled on the right wing, turning his marker Barnabas Owuor inside out to push the scores to 10-0.

Veteran Brian Tanga later combined with Wekesa, setting him up for his second try, which was converted for a 17-0 lead.

Strathmore Leos responded through Samuel Wafula, who dived over in the corner, before Victor Mola added another to reduce the deficit.

However, Kabras sealed the contest when Mathias Osimbo latched onto a switch in play and left his marker trailing to complete a 24-12 win.
