The Kabeberi 7s semi-final lineup has been confirmed at the RFUEA Grounds, with KCB Rugby and Strathmore Leos reaching their fifth consecutive semi-final of the season.

The pairings will see KCB Rugby and Kabras RFC renew their rivalry in the semi-finals for the first time since the Driftwood 7s.

Kabeberi 7s pairings

This will be their fourth knockout meeting of the season, with two of the previous encounters having come at the quarterfinal stage, both won by KCB.

The other semi-final will see Strathmore Leos face off with Daystar Falcons, who have reached their maiden semi-final this season.

KCB Rugby booked their slot after a dominant 35-7 win over Mwamba RFC in the first quarterfinal. Led by interim coach Andrew Amonde, the bankers continued their impressive run, maintaining a perfect record in quarterfinals this season.

Vincent Onyala opened the scoring with a centre-post try before Samuel Asati added another for a 14-0 lead.

Festus Shiasi then stretched the advantage, while Mwamba’s Brian Mutugi pulled one back. However, KCB sealed the win with further tries from Shiasi and Brian Wahinya.

Kabras RFC returned to the semis for the first time since the opening leg of the season after beating Catholic Monks 20-5.

The Sugarmen capitalized on a miscued kick, with Jackson Siketi setting up Mathias Osimbo for the opener.

William Mwanji then added a second before halftime for a 10-0 lead. In the second half, Rayvone Ambale created Mwanji’s brace, while Biden Hayo extended the lead to 20 points.

Hassan Wambani scored a consolation for the Monks, becoming the first player to breach Kabras’ defence all weekend.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

Strathmore Leos continued their fine form, marching to a fifth straight semi-final after a 38-0 thrashing of Mombasa RFC.

Victor Mola, Shem Okola, and Nygel Amaitsa all crossed the whitewash in the first half to give Leos a commanding lead.

After the break, Arnold Muita and Collins Maina added to the tally to complete the shutout.

Daystar Falcons booked their first-ever semi-final berth after a dramatic 24-19 win over Menengai Oilers.

Oilers struck first through John Okoth before Clinton Amukwachi and Eddy Wambugu scored to give Daystar a 12-7 lead.

Denis Abukuse restored Oilers’ advantage before the break, but two second-half tries from Arnold Ogonda ensured the students stayed in control.

Nelson Makokha’s late effort gave Oilers hope, but Falcons held firm to secure the historic win.

Meanwhile, Mean Machine, Embu RFC, and Nakuru RFC have been relegated alongside Dala 7s hosts Kisumu RFC.

The three sides will now hope for an invite from Kisumu to feature in the final leg of the campaign.
