KCB Rugby have announced the appointment of former Kenya 7s captain Andrew Amonde as interim head coach.
The appointment comes after interim head coach Dennis Mwanja stepped aside following his two-weeks suspension by the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) in his capacity as Lionesses coach.

“Our interim head coach Dennis Mwanja has stepped aside from his role following his suspension by the Kenya Rugby Union, on a matter that is currently under review by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports. Andrew Amonde will take over on an interim basis. We believe in the rule of law and therefore it is important to allow due process to take its course,” KCB announced through their official pages.
Mwanja was suspended by KRU after a preliminary report from the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports – State Department for Sports, Office of the Gender Protection and Implementation Secretariat raised concerns over a safeguarding incident.

He had been confirmed as KCB’s interim head coach in May following the departure of Oliver Mang’eni after just one season at the helm.

Mang’eni, who had succeeded long-serving coach Curtis Olago, left after the expiry of his contract.
The May reshuffle at the Den also saw the exit of backs coach Darwin Mukidza and team manager Priscilla Amollo Ong’ombe, whose contracts came to an end.
