Blak Blad head coach Bernard Kibet and KCA University assistant coach Walter Omwangu have officially attained his World Rugby Level Two coaching accreditation.

The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) confirmed the development on Tuesday via a statements on their social.

“Congratulations to Walter Omwangu on his World Rugby Level Two 7s coaching accreditation. He is currently the assistant coach at KCA University,” KRU announced in a statement on their socials.

Omwangu now joins a growing list of recently accredited coaches that includes Kenya Harlequin 7s head coach Simon Odongo, Zetech Oaks’ Ramseyfield Matekwa, NYS Spades’ Martin Munga, and Northern Suburbs’ Godfrey Otieno.

Odongo received his Level Two 7s accreditation a year after completing his Level Two certification in 15s. The former Homeboyz tactician was appointed head of Quins’ 7s program ahead of the 2024 campaign, having previously coached Homeboyz Rugby in two stints (2018–2019 and 2021).

Matekwa has been instrumental in guiding Zetech Oaks, who have made several top-tier appearances this season, while Munga’s accreditation comes as NYS Spades continue to impress in the National 7s Circuit second division, where they lead the standings after four rounds with two final appearances.

Otieno, on his part, completed his accreditation during the Christie 7s mini-super week while overseeing Northern Suburbs.
