KCB RFC’s red-hot form carried on as they booked yet another final at the ongoing Embu 7s staged at the ASK Njukiri Showground on Sunday.

The bankers stormed into their fourth consecutive final berth after brushing aside MMUST 31-7 in the first semifinal.

Festus Shiasi opened the scoring for KCB with Brian Wahinya’s conversion sailing wide for a 5-0 lead. Shiasi would then turn provider, setting up Vincent Onyala for the second try, though the extras went begging to make it 10-0.

Emmanuel Opondo added a third, dotting down under the posts for an easy conversion to stretch the lead to 17-0 at halftime. Wahinya made no mistake converting Opondo’s second try early in the second half for 24-0 before Michael Wekesa’s effort, also converted, put the tie to bed at 31-0.

MMUST found a late consolation through Josephat Omulefu, converted by Derrick Likare, for a 31-7 full-time scoreline.

In the second semifinal, Strathmore Leos avenged last weekend’s loss to Oilers, running out 24-7 winners.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

Victor Mola Odhiambo crossed first with Arnold Muita converting for 7-0. Barnabus Owuor added a second before halftime, also converted by Muita, for a comfortable 14-0 lead at the break.

Victor Mola then scored his second to stretch the gap to 19-0, before completing his hat-trick off a Brian Mwenda assist to make it 24-0. Oilers grabbed a late consolation through Brian Achacha, converted by Clarkson Keegan, but it was too little too late.

The result sets up a KCB vs Strathmore Leos final, while MMUST will face Oilers in the third-place playoff.

Elsewhere, Kabras bounced back to defeat Nakuru RFC 21-5 in the 5th place semifinal. They will meet Quins, who overpowered Daystar Falcons 22-5.

In the Challenge Trophy, Catholic Monks edged Mwamba 10-7 in a nail-biter to book a showdown against Mean Machine, who overcame hosts Embu RFC 10-5.

The battle for 13th place will see Nondies take on Impala RFC after Nondies defeated Kabete Stallions 14-7 and Impala beat Oaks 28-12.
