The opening round of the Embu 7s saw the usual suspects, KCB Rugby, Menengai Oilers, Strathmore Leos and Nondies register wins in their opening matches on Saturday morning at Njukiiri Grounds.
In Pool A, Daystar Falcons lead after a convincing 24-5 win over hosts Embu. Caleb Bosire’s charges ran in four tries, two of which were converted, to collect three points with a points differential of +19.

KCB Rugby also picked up maximum points after a 29-14 win over Mwamba RFC, scoring five tries against Mwamba’s two. The bankers sit second in the pool with three points and a points differential of +15.
In Pool B, Strathmore Leos edged Kabras RFC 15-14 in a tightly contested clash. The students, enjoying one of their best seasons in recent times, scored three tries against Kabras’ two converted tries.
Leos lead the pool with three points, while Impala RFC and Stallions follow with two points each after drawing 19-19 in their opener.

In Pool C, Menengai Oilers defeated neighbours Nakuru RFC 21-12 in the Nakuru derby. Geoffrey Ominde’s side scored three converted tries to secure their second derby win over Nakuru this season, collecting three points.
Nondies also began strongly, edging Mean Machine 15-10 to join Oilers on three points.
In Pool D, MMUST pulled off an upset with a 26-15 win over Kenya Harlequin. The students dotted down four tries, converting three, while Quins managed three converted tries.
Meanwhile, Zetech Oaks edged Catholic Monks 12-10 in another closely fought Pool D fixture.
