It was a clean sweep for Kenyan sides in the opening round of the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) 15s games, played at the Bull Ring in Kakamega.
The matches were moved to Thursday following the rescheduling of the opening ceremony, which will now be held on Friday at Bukhungu Stadium.
FEASSSA 15s wins for Vihiga and co
Vihiga High School enjoyed a dream debut in the FEASSSA 15s, securing a 20–15 win over Namilyango College. The Kenyan champions made a strong start, racing to an early try for a 5–0 lead. Namilyango pulled back with a penalty kick before Vihiga responded with another try to extend their advantage to 10–3.
Namilyango reduced the deficit to two points with an unconverted try, making it 10–8 at the break. In the second half, they capitalized on a Vihiga error after a long-range penalty attempt hit the posts, regaining possession and scoring a converted try for a 15–10 lead.
The Kenyan champions hit back through a series of pick-and-drives by their forwards to level the scores, before adding a decisive try to seal a 20–15 victory.

Upper Hill School claimed a 26–19 win over Jinja SS, while Kisii School defeated King’s College Budo 34–12 to join their compatriots on the winners’ list.
In the 7s category, Koyonzo beat Makerere College 52–0, Mbarara High School edged London 14–12, and Bwake thrashed Saint Mary’s Kisubi 49–0. Kenyan champions St Peter’s Mumias secured a 19–14 win.
In the girls’ games, Kinale Girls thumped St Theresa 43–7, Jinja SS edged Saint Joseph’s Kitale, and Paul Harris edged Nkoma SS 15–12.
