Uganda’s and Heathens back Daniel Malcolm Okello is set to take his rugby journey global after earning a place at the prestigious Rhinos Rugby Academy in San Clemente, California.
The club confirmed his selection in an official statement issued on Monday, August 4, 2025.
“We are proud to announce that our very own Daniel Malcolm Okello has earned a place at the Rhinos Rugby Academy in San Clemente, California for a high-performance rugby program,” the club stated.
Okello’s selection marks a major milestone in his career and is a reward for years of consistency and hard work.
“Malcolm’s work ethic, skill, and commitment to the game have always set him apart, and this next step is a reward for years of focused effort. The opportunity to train and compete in a world-class environment will only sharpen his game and elevate his impact when he returns.”

Heathens expressed pride in Malcolm’s achievement, not only as a local standout but now as an internationally recognized prospect.
