The opening leg of the 2025 National Sevens Circuit, the Driftwood 7s, provided a thrilling weekend of rugby action in Division II as teams battled for early momentum in the race for promotion to the top tier.
Zetech Oaks set the pace with a perfect outing in Mombasa, securing maximum points (22) after defeating NYS Spades 10-0 in the Division II final.
The win not only handed them top spot on the log but also earned them promotion to Division I for the next leg of the circuit.
NYS Spades, despite falling short in the final, registered strong performances throughout the tournament to collect 19 points and take second place.
Makueni RFC and Mean Machine followed closely in third and fourth with 17 and 15 points respectively.
Embu RFC and AP Warriors each posted 13 and 12 points respectively, settling for fifth and sixth place respectively.

Homeboyz RFC and MKU Thika are next on 10 points each in the standings.
South Coast Pirates, who edged Kisumu RFC 10-7 in the Division II Challenge Trophy final, finished the leg with 8 points, just ahead of their opponents Kisumu, who earned 7.
Jackals, KCA University, and Northern Suburbs accumulated 5, 5, and 3 points respectively.
Vihiga Granites picked up 2 points, while North Coast Stormers and Likoni Rugby managed a point each.
TUM Marines, KCNP, Kaya Rugby, and Kilifi Titans failed to register points in this opening leg.
