KCB Rugby eliminate Kabras, set to face Strathmore Leos in Driftwood 7s final

KCB Rugby and Strathmore Leos will clash in the Driftwood 7s final after winning their respective semi-final matches at the Mombasa Sports Club.

Dennis Mwanji’s KCB side edged past Kabras RFC 10-5 in a tight encounter, with the Sugarmen undone by costly errors.

Floyd Wabwire showcased pace and power, beating Victor Otieno on the outside to score the opening try for a 5-0 lead.

Wabwire struck again before halftime, diving over at the corner to stretch the lead to 10-0.

Kabras pulled one back through Lamec Ambetsa after Bob Muhati’s sin-bin, but time was against them as they were denied a restart, sealing KCB’s spot in the final.

Leos cruise past Nakuru

Strathmore Leos booked their place in the final with a dominant 28-0 victory over Nakuru RFC.

The students took a 7-0 halftime lead when Barnabas Owuor offloaded to Kenya 7s playmaker Nygel Amaitsa, who crossed over for a converted try.

Arnold Muita then set up Stansilaus Shikoli to double the lead to 14-0, before Victor Mola finished off an offload on the right wing to make it 21-0.

Amaitsa capped off the performance with his second try on the left flank, which was converted to complete the 28-0 scoreline.

Fifth place semis
Kenya Harlequin booked a spot in the fifth-place semi-finals with a 17-5 win over Nondies. They will face Menengai Oilers, who beat MMUST 31-0.
