The Springboks claimed the Qatar Airways Cup for the third consecutive year with a commanding 54-7 victory over the Barbarians on a wet and slippery Saturday evening at Cape Town’s DHL Stadium.

Despite the difficult conditions, South Africa managed to dominate proceedings from the outset, scoring three first-half tries to lead 19-0 at the break. Malcolm Marx opened the scoring from a powerful lineout maul before Cheslin Kolbe added a second after a clever chip kick from fullback Aphelele Fassi.

Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu converted the second try, and debutant Vincent Tshituka crossed the line soon after with a pick-and-drive effort, also converted.

The Springboks stepped up a gear in the second half, adding five more tries. Jan-Hendrik Wessels and Kurt-Lee Arendse touched down before Tshituka bagged his second of the evening. Returning lock Lood de Jager added to the tally before Damian de Allende sealed the emphatic win after the final hooter.

Melvyn Jaminet scored a consolation try for the Barbarians, which he converted himself, but it was far from enough to halt the South African onslaught.
