The semi-finalists of the Africa Men’s 7s tournament have been confirmed after Kenya Morans, South Africa A, Madagascar, and the Zimbabwe Cheetahs won their respective quarterfinal matches in Mauritius.

Kenya Morans will face Madagascar in the second semi-final, while South Africa A are set to clash with the Zimbabwe Cheetahs after eliminating defending champions Uganda.

Kenya Morans cruise

Kenya Morans booked their place in the last four with a dominant 43-12 victory over Nigeria.

Teenager Jackson Siketi opened the scoring with a blistering run under the posts and converted his own try for an early 7-0 lead.

Siketi then executed a well-placed restart, which was reclaimed by Dennis Abukuse, who raced away to score the second try. Siketi again added the extras for a 14-0 advantage.

Nigeria responded with a converted try to cut the deficit to 14-7, but Lamek Ambetsa extended Morans’ lead just before halftime, latching onto a kick-and-chase to score for a 19-7 scoreline at the break.

In the second half, George Ooro powered through multiple defenders to score in the right corner, stretching the lead to 24-7.

Chrissant Ojwang added another try under the posts, and debutant Javan Otieno came off the bench to score his first try in the Morans jersey.

Nigeria managed to pull one back for 38-12, but Abukuse completed his brace on the right wing to seal a 43-12 win for Kenya.

Madagascar advanced to the semis after dispatching Zambia 31-12. The island nation showcased pace and physicality to book a date with the Morans in the second semi-final.

South Africa A end Uganda’s hopes

South Africa A ended Emerging Uganda 7s’ campaign with a convincing performance of 26-0.

Grant de Jager scored the opening try under the posts, which was converted for a 7-0 lead. Ricardo Duarttee had a try disallowed, but Sebastiaan Jobb dazzled with footwork to beat his marker and doubled the lead. Duarttee added the extras for a 14-0 score.

South Africa A exploited an overload on the right wing, allowing Jobb to score again for a 19-0 lead at halftime. Jobb completed his hat-trick early in the second half, capitalizing on a Ugandan overthrow at the lineout to touch down. The conversion took the score to 26-0, and South Africa held firm to confirm their semi-final berth.

Zimbabwe Cheetahs booked their spot in the final four with an emphatic 36-0 win over Ghana.

They got off the mark early with a try in the corner. Ryan Musumhi followed up with a darting run that left the defence flat-footed for the second try, though he missed the conversion.

The third try came from deep within their half, with Tapiwa Mafura setting up Edward Sigauke for a 17-0 lead after Musumhi added the extras. Mafura turned provider again, this time setting up Tapiwa Malenga for a centre-post try and a 24-0 lead after the conversion.

Sigauke completed his hat-trick with a try in the corner, before Trevor Gurwe capped the performance with an easy finish for the 36-0 final score.
