Kenya 7s stars Kevin Wekesa and Patrick Odongo were back on the scoresheet for their respective teams as the Rugby Premier League (RPL) continued with mixed fortunes for the two.
Wekesa crossed the whitewash for Hyderabad Heroes in the third quarter, helping his side extend their unbeaten run to five matches. He was joined on the scoresheet by Javed Hussein, who bagged a brace, and Wolfram Hacker.

The 26-7 victory lifted Hyderabad Heroes to the top of the standings with 19 points, overtaking Chennai Bulls, who have 17 points from six matches.
Odongo, meanwhile, touched down for Red Delhi in their clash, but his efforts were not enough to secure a win, as they narrowly lost 19-15. Red Delhi are now placed fourth on the log after five games.

The Rugby Premier League features a unique and fast-paced format. Each match lasts 22 minutes, split into four-minute quarters with two-minute intervals, creating a more intense style of play compared to the traditional World Rugby Sevens format.
The competition follows a double round-robin format, with 30 pool matches scheduled. Each team will play 10 pool matches before progressing to the playoffs, which include two semi-finals, a bronze medal match, and a final—culminating in 34 matches overall. Teams are expected to play up to 12 matches over the 15-day competition.
RPL is India’s first professional Rugby 7s tournament. It aims to deliver high-octane action while offering a platform for both emerging and elite talent. The league is designed to boost rugby’s visibility in India, inspire the next generation of players, and offer fans a vibrant, festival-like experience.
