Chavakali High School ended their seven-year wait for the Vihiga County 7s title with a commanding 17-0 victory over arch-rivals and defending champions Vihiga High School in the final played at Chavakali Grounds.
The first half was tightly contested and ended scoreless, with Vihiga—missing their key 15s players who were cup-tied following their National Schools triumph—putting up a spirited fight. The game opened up in the second half, with Chavakali buoyed by strong home support.
Savier Imbambi broke the deadlock, showing raw power to beat his markers down the left flank and score the opening try in the corner.
Benard Anyonje then extended the lead with a well-taken try, which he converted for a 12-0 advantage. Calistus Wamune sealed the win with the final try, slicing through the defense to touch down and spark wild celebrations among the home fans.
