Uganda reveal matchday squad to face Namibia

The Uganda Rugby Cranes have announced their matchday squad for their match against Namibia, scheduled for Friday, June 14, at Walvis Bay Private School. Kick-off is set for 16:00 EAT.

Head coach Fred Mudoola has named a strong squad to take on the Southern African giants, led by captain Byron Oketayot and vice-captain Conrad Wanyama.

The front row features Santos Ssenteza, Edward Emiemu, and Fahad Maido, while Frank Kidega and Julius Opio will anchor the second row. Sydney Gongodyo and captain Byron Oketayot will patrol the flanks, with Pius Ogena at number 8.

Conrad Wanyama and Yasin Wasswa will take charge of the fly-half and scrum-half positions, respectively.

Wingers Shakim Ssembusi and Claude Otema will be key to unlocking Namibia’s defense with their agility and pace, while Justin Kimono and Thomas Gwokto will handle midfield duties. Timothy Kisiga rounds out the starting lineup as the fullback.

This match serves as crucial preparation for Uganda ahead of the Rugby Africa Cup 2025, which will take place at Nelson Mandela National Stadium in Namboole from July 8 to 19, 2025.
